Soltani appointed to organize music section of Iran’s ICOM
“The section plans to gather under one roof musical scores, old hand-written Persian books on music, and the personal documents and diaries of Iranian musicians in order to protect the items, and also to prepare references for Iranian music enthusiasts,” Soltani told the Mehr News Agency on Monday.
“The scores and the personal accounts left by renowned Iranian musicians are their legacies. The opportunity for researchers to make use of this material should have been made long before,” he added.
Soltani, who is also the conductor of the Melal Orchestra, requested that anyone who was in possession of rare documents, or items that once belonged to Iranian musicians should consider donating them to this center so that they can be collected and preserved.
The collected works are due to be published later by ICOM in Iran, Soltani added.
